Preço diário da eletricidade em Portugal e Espanha afunda-se 32% esta
quarta-feira, depois de duas semanas com alguns dos preços mais caros
da história do mercado ibérico.

Ao fim de duas semanas de preços especialmente elevados no mercado
grossista de eletricidade na Península Ibérica, o preço a que a
energia elétrica é transacionada entre produtores e comercializadores
em Portugal e Espanha vai ter esta quarta-feira uma queda acentuada,
para um dos valores mais baixos do mês.

Os dados do Omie, operador do mercado ibérico responsável pela
negociação dos contratos para o dia seguinte, mostram que o preço
grossista da eletricidade para esta quarta-feira terá um valor médio
de 51,66 euros por megawatt hora (MWh), menos 32% que o preço médio
desta terça-feira, de 76,47 euros por MWh.

Para esta descida a pique contribui a recuperação da produção
eólica, em grande medida fruto dos fortes ventos esperados na
Península Ibérica com a depressão Gaetan, que traz também chuva
.
Com mais produção eólica, diminuirá o volume de eletricidade a
satisfazer por fontes como as centrais a gás natural e as barragens.

Além disso, o regresso da chuva deverá voltar a elevar as reservas de
água nas barragens, levando as elétricas que exploram estas centrais a
cobrar menos para turbinar e se desfazer desse recurso.

De facto, os dados diários da REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais
mostram que a capacidade de produção eólica em Portugal que estava de
facto a produzir na manhã de segunda-feira rondava os 500 megawatts
(MW), menos de 10% da capacidade instalada, mas ao final do dia começou
a subir.

Esta terça-feira de manhã a potência eólica em uso já chegou aos
2800 MW (cerca de metade da capacidade eólica portuguesa) e a previsão
é que durante a noite ultrapasse os 4500 MW.

Por outro lado, com temperaturas não tão baixas como as da semana
passada, o consumo de eletricidade também sofre um alívio, com as
pontas de consumo no sistema elétrico mais distantes dos recordes
alcançados nas últimas duas semanas, de acordo com as previsões da
REN consultadas pelo Expresso.

Os 51,66 euros por MWh serão o valor mais baixo da eletricidade no
mercado grossista desde 4 de janeiro, quando o preço ibérico estava em
59,8 euros por MWh. A partir desse dia a eletricidade iniciou uma
escalada motivada por uma tempestade perfeita de consumo historicamente
elevado (devido ao frio), baixa produção eólica, baixa precipitação
e elevada necessidade de recurso às centrais a gás, num período em
que o gás natural enfrenta elevados preços no mercado internacional.

Em 2020 o preço médio anual da eletricidade em Portugal e Espanha foi
de apenas 34 euros por MWh, o mais baixo desde a criação do mercado
ibérico de eletricidade (Mibel).

Segundo os cálculos do Expresso, os preços dos primeiros 19 dias de
janeiro colocam a média mensal no valor mais alto da última década,
mas os 10 dias que faltam poderão acabar por fazer baixar o preço
médio de janeiro.

Os contratos futuros negociados no Omip (o operador de contratos a prazo
do Mibel) estão a ser negociados a 50,5 euros por MWh para fevereiro e
44 euros por MWh para o segundo trimestre.

Os preços do mercado diário e do mercado de futuros definem o custo a
que os comercializadores de eletricidade adquirem a energia que vão
fornecer ao cliente final, pelo que as respetivas flutuações acabam
por ter um impacto indireto na fatura das famílias e empresas.
